"Bahá'u'lláh has declared that religion must be in accord with science and reason. If it does not correspond with scientific principles and the processes of reason, it is superstition." Introduction
The following site presents studies within the context of the Sociology and Anthropology of Religions related to the New Religious Movement (NRM) known as the Baha'i religion. The main studies relate to the teachings of the Baha'i teacher Dr. Leland Jensen founder of a small NRM, the Baha'is Under the Provisions of the Covenant (BUPC), sometimes known by the pejorative Jensenites.  These studies also cover the Mormon Prophet George Williams that BUPC adherents believe foretold the coming of Dr. Jensen as well there is a section covering Rainbow Gathering beliefs, Many of Dr. Jensen's students are also members of the Rainbow Family of Living Light

Brief Overview of the Baha'i's Under the Provisions of the Covenant (BUPC):

The BUPC (founded 1971 in Deer Lodge, MT) is a NRM based on a previous NRM, the Baha'i World Faith.  It differs from the Baha'i World Faith by adding an additional Promised One of God, which is not found in the Baha'i World Faith or any other sect or denomination of the Baha'i Religion. The additional Promised One is not considered a Manifestation of God, or a Prophet or with super human knowledge.  Rather this additional Promised One is considered the symbolic return of Jesus, in the symbolic role of High Priest (after the order of Melchizedek), a learned teacher, this person was known as Dr. Leland Jensen, who was prophesied, the BUPC adherents believe, by Judeo-Christian (see Book of Daniel for Third Promised One), Baha'i (Prophecy of 7th Angel in SAQ), Mormon (Prophecies of George WIlliams) and other religious traditions.  The current followers of the BUPC are divided into several groups with no central organizational unity to them since 2002, this disunity exists over the issue of who the BUPC Guardian is with different groups aligned to different claimants or no claimant at all to the office of Guardianship, the two main claimants to the role of Guardian in the BUPC are Glenn Goldman and Neal Chase. The BUPC also differ from the Baha'i World Faith (BWF) in that  they believe in a continuous line of Guardians to head the Universal House of Justice, instead of just one Guardian, Shoghi Effendi, whom most Baha'is hold as the first and only Guardian. The BUPC also integrates Judeo-Christian Millenarian Theology to traditional Baha'i Theology through several notable concepts such as the "Aghsan Guardianship", "Throne of David", "Jesus, the Lamb" and others. The BUPC theology should not be confused or categorized with Baha'i sects like the Orthodox Baha'is. The BUPC should be viewed as it's own New Religious Movement sociologically speaking, it's relation to Baha'i is similar to Mormonism to Christianity or Baha'i to Islam.
